I puosted this on another thread a few minutes ago but thought it would be best to start o a new thread on the subject.

“One thing I do want to add since we are on the subject of drugs and I am certain that some people are going to be reading this with the curiosity or intention on FINDING drugs in Cancun…… DO NOT BUY ANY WHEN OFFERED TO YOU!
I know there is a percentage of people that enjoy the use of drugs and will have the desire to obtain them while down here. The most important thing to remember on your vacation is STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS AND THE PEOPLE PUSHING THEM!!! I am telling you this for a couple reasons.
You are a foriegner in a different country and the items you are trying to purchase may not be what you think. I know of a few people who have come down here and overdosed and died while in Mexico!
the second and most important is that the mexican drug enforcment agency has set up sting operations in pretty much all the hotspots where drug sales are prevalent. (coral negro, Market 28, party center). they are sitting there waiting for you to buy just so they can either arrest you or extort as much money as they can from you. You will be arrested and thrown in a Mexican prison and the laws arent the same down here. You cant just get bailed out. You are gonna sit in there as long as they want or until they get what they want.
Dont take the risk of ruining your vacation, or I should say Your life! Imagine going on vacation, getting arrested for buying drugs, being extorted for all the money you have and then being locked up in a mexican prison surrounded by “real criminals” who you cant even understand a word they are saying.”
DONT USE DRUGS IN MEXICO!!!

Last year my wife and I were out at My Place when she wanted something for the bug bites that were making her itch like crazy. So I exited and was on my way to the Pharmicia when this guy walks up to me and asks where I am going, he then says I got blow, hash, pot yada yada. When I told him I was going to the pharmicia for something for a rash he was like”OH, yea the pharmicia is 2 blocks down the street to your right”
I just thought it was hilarious!
Piemur brought up pharmacies which brought a question to mind. I’ve heard that the meds in Mexico are cheaper than here in the US. Do they carry the same kinds of meds as they do here? My father is on several medications and finding it very hard to pay for all of them. He has even taken himself off some meds since he can’t afford them. Can I buy them there without a prescription? Is that legal?

Wow, I’m glad this thread is still going strong. I have to admit I was stupid and smoked pot on numerous trips in Mexico and Jamaica (no pun intended). The last two times to Mexico I haven’t though because I figured, besides the whole being thrown in jail or extorted thing, it’s not worth the paranoia, the feeling that the policia may be after you and you have no idea.
The scary thing is many people think they are fine because they are tourists and no government allow a tourist to rot in jail, lest it negatively impact their economy. The fact is you probably don’t hear about most of these cases in the news but they do occur.
One friend of mine bought weed in Cancun then had an officer and security guard banging on his door just after he had smoked. He was lucky because he flushed the weed down the toilet so they let him off with a fine (in the hundreds of dollars). I know he wasn’t jailed, but it would still scare the crap out of me.
I don’t have to smoke weed on vacation to have a good time. Besides it’s lousy weed anyhow, all brown and seedy. It just ain’t worth the trouble or money. I don’t have to worry about it at home here cause you need to being carrying alot to get into serious trouble. If you really need to smoke weed over there you probably need to get off the stuff anyway.
To all those pot smokers out there going to Cancun, don’t buy/smoke weed in Mexico or the Caribbean. If you want to smoke weed on vacation, visit the interior of British Columbia and you won’t be disappointed 🙂
